Zelenskyy also announced a Crimea Platform Summit for September 11.
On the evening of September 9, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy traditionally addressed Ukrainians and talked about the main events of the day.
Staff meeting
President Zelenskyy held a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff, where several key issues were discussed. These included the defense of the energy sector against Russian attacks, the situation on the front lines, and the supply of artillery to the military, particularly Ukraine's domestically produced "Bohdana" systems.
"Regarding the energy sector, there are clear deadlines and requirements for each facility, both in terms of physical protection and air defense. We need the same clear approach to implementing all the necessary measures. Responsibility for this is entirely personal – both for the construction of protective structures and for the operation of air defense systems," the President emphasized.
Zelenskyy also assured that efforts are ongoing to equip combat and reserve brigades.
Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov also briefed the meeting on the outcomes of the recent Ramstein meeting and his negotiations with international partners.
Russian offensive on Pokrovsk
The report of Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, primarily about the Donetsk directions, was listened at the Staff meeting.
"I thank all our units on the frontlines for fully completing their tasks, steadfastly repelling Russian assaults and reclaiming our positions. This is important. Equally important is destroying as many of the occupier's forces as possible. In the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions, the Russian army must lose as much combat capability as possible,"- Zelenskyy said.
Separately, the Commander-in-Chief reported on the defense in Kharkiv region and on the actions of Ukrainian forces on the territory of Russia - in Kursk region.
Summit of the Crimean Platform
Zelenskyy said that the Summit of the Crimean Platform is scheduled to be held on September 11.
"The First Lady’s team is preparing a special diplomatic event— the Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen, which will also take place this week. We are also preparing new negotiations with our partners to strengthen Ukraine’s capabilities, enhance opportunities for our society, and bring us closer to a just peace. We remain focused on our key goal - peace for Ukraine, for all of Ukraine, and for all our people," Zelenskyy concluded.
