As a result of the Russian "Shahed" strike on the critical infrastructure of Mykolaiv, more than 100,000 people were left without heating.
This was reported by President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, on Sunday, February 16.
He emphasized that this was a terrorist attack by the Russians, specifically aimed at a civilian facility.
"An ordinary Ukrainian city, ordinary civilian infrastructure. This has nothing to do with combat operations or the situation on the front lines. It once again proves that the Russians are fighting against our people, against life in Ukraine," the President said.
According to Zelenskyy, such vile actions by Russia demonstrate that the Kremlin is not seeking peace.
"Those who really want to restore peace and are preparing for negotiations, don't act like this," he stated.
The Ukrainian President reported that repair teams were working actively in the city to restore heating in Mykolaiv, and he promised that the Ukrainian government would work with partners to strengthen protection against such strikes.
"We must also work actively at all levels with all partners to prevent Russia from prolonging this war or making the threat to life permanent. Russia must be pressured towards peace," he stressed.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that today's strike on Mykolaiv, the recent "Shahed" attack on the shelter at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, and other similar Russian strikes should lead to a "strong reaction" and a collective effort by all of Ukraine's partners to force Russia to peace.
