Russian military aircraft disappeared from radar near Snake Island
A Russian Su-30SM fighter jet disappeared in the vicinity of Snake Island.
On August 14, the Ukrainian Navy reported the probable loss of a Russian Su-30SM fighter jet in the Black Sea.
According to the Navy’s intelligence, an intercepted radio transmission indicated a loss of contact with the aircraft while it was carrying out a mission southeast of the island. The cause of the incident remains unknown, but there is reason to believe the aircraft went down.
Russian occupation forces have launched a search-and-rescue mission. Available reports suggest wreckage from the plane has already been spotted on the sea’s surface. The pilots have not yet been found.
