Russia’s spring-summer offensive campaign in eastern Ukraine has already begun, and the enemy is paying a heavy price for its advance.
This was reported by military experts Vladyslav Selezniov and Nazar Voloshyn in a comment to LIGA.net.
According to Selezniov, the offensive has been ongoing since October 2023 without a full halt. The Russians regroup and take operational pauses, but the pressure does not ease.
The hottest spots on the front: Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, Chasiv Yar, and Toretsk, as well as the Kupiansk and Lyman directions.
According to Voloshyn, in the area of responsibility of the "Khortytsia" Operational-Strategic Grouping of Troops, enemy losses reach up to 146 soldiers per square kilometer.
In total, over the first three months of 2025, the Russian army has lost:
- January — 35,431 soldiers
- February — 25,081 soldiers
- March — 30,302 soldiers
Despite the losses, the Kremlin plans to increase the size of its army by forming 15 motorized rifle divisions by the end of the year — roughly 150,000 troops.
The situation in northern Kharkiv region is also tense. Russia attempted to encircle Kharkiv, but Ukrainian forces foiled this plan. Selezniov also notes that Russia may receive assistance from North Korea, which is capable of supplying military equipment and personnel.
