On June 25th, the only way to leave the city is to cross the Russia-controlled territory.

The invaders act like feeling themselves at home and have already appointed their commandant in Sievierodonetsk, as Oleksandr Striuk, the Head of City Military Civilian Administration, said during his appearance on Ukrainian TV.

"Russian army now has full control over the city. The invaders act like feeling themselves at home and have already appointed their commandant who is now mobilizing some kind of pro-Russian activists. The city is so devastated that may be too difficult to handle this situation for locals people. Let’s hope that soon the city will once again return under control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Striuk said.

"The only way to leave the city is through Russia-controlled area. We are ready to encourage and support any attempts to evacuate to the Ukrainian territory. However, now we don’t have a reasonable ability to   arrange an organized evacuation", he added.

According to Striuk, the invaders haven’t yet started to issue the Russian ID documents in Sievierodonetsk, since the city was seized only recently. However, the Head of Military Civilian Administration does not rule out the possibility of such processes in the future.

He also added that the invaders are actively filming propaganda story exploiting Sievierodonetsk civilians, who had been hiding at Azot plant shelters.

"Some of them (civilians – ed.) have already left the Azot plant territory. As soon as they step out of the shelters, they are welcomed by the Russian propagandist filming crews. These people had spent almost three months underground. They are emotionally and mentally exhausted and require both medical and mental health care”, Striuk emphasized.

As for Ukrainian military, the Head of Military Civilian Administration confirmed that they retreated to previously surveyed defensive positions. Moreover, the reported that Ukraine wasn’t able to deliver humanitarian aid to the city because of enemy shellfire. Nevertheless, for now the local hospitals have sufficient stock of medicines.
