As of today, there is no risk of flooding or a dam breach at the Kyiv Hydroelectric Power Plant. A portion of the water will be passed through the turbines, and if necessary, the sluice gates will be raised. The station is operating within the limits of its current capabilities.
This information was shared by Ihor Syrota, General Director of "Ukrhydroenergo," on the air of the telethon.
"It is currently impossible to fully assess the technical consequences - what we have lost and how long it will take to restore everything."
There is hope that by the end of the week, the full impact of the missile strike will be determined.
Fortunately, none of the station's employees were injured, as they were all in bomb shelters.
"Our top priority is to keep people safe, and we can restore everything else," Syrota said.
