Russian nuclear threats are nothing more than attempts at intimidation. Russia resorts to this tactic to demonstrate its strength both to its own society and the international community.

On Tuesday, August 27, Zelenskyy expressed this opinion during a press conference.

"Playing with fire. It seems to me that Putin is quoting himself. This is not the first time he has said this. Every time Russian nuclear intelligence knows about our persistent steps and, I think, understands that we are close to decisions. The more positive decisions there are from our Western partners, the more tension there will be in the Russian media space. They always try to intimidate, including with nuclear weapons," he said.

Zelenskyy believes that Putin will not resort to using nuclear weapons.

"As I’ve said, Putin loves his overly long life too much, so he will cling to his chair, the Kremlin and the support of his society for his actions. The use of nuclear weapons is unlikely to be supported by the entire world, so I think the world's response would be very swift," Zelenskyy remarked.
