The Russian occupiers' summer offensive has already begun. Currently, around 60,000 troops are stationed on the Sumy front.
This was reported on "Ukrainian Radio" by military officer and Head of the Reservist Council of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, Ivan Tymochko.
According to him, Russia has concentrated its best forces in Sumy region: paratroopers, naval infantry, the 155th Naval Infantry Brigade — which has been repeatedly struck by the Ukrainian Armed Forces — and the 810th Crimean Brigade, which has had its personnel replaced numerous times.
"They have better weaponry, they are prioritized when it comes to the redistribution of arms and equipment, and they are the first to receive reinforcements. They are quite combat-capable, but not unique," the officer noted.
"In Sumy region, we are tying down enemy forces that they might otherwise use or want to use in other directions," Tymochko said.
As for the occupiers’ plans for Sumy, the officer stated that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin wants, at the very least, to keep some regional center under fire control in order to demonstrate that the Russian army is capable of fulfilling strategic objectives.
