Ukraine signs a memorandum with the manufacturer of the IRIS-T system: Why it matters

A memorandum on mutual understanding has been signed with Diehl Defence, the manufacturer of the IRIS-T system. This is important for Ukraine because IRIS-T is a key component of its air defense shield.

This was announced by Ukraine's Minister of Defense, Rustem Umerov.

"Protecting Ukrainian skies and cities is our priority. The signed agreement paves the way for major industrial projects that will strengthen Ukraine's air defense capabilities," Umerov said.

Umerov thanked Diehl Defence for their trust and willingness to cooperate.

"It is important that leading global defense companies are taking steps to support Ukraine. The free world is on our side, and together we are opening new opportunities to strengthen our defense," he added.
