«We must take it as seriously as possible»: Third Assault Brigade comments on Russia’s offensive in Sumy region

The situation with the advance of Russian forces along the border of Sumy and Kharkiv regions must be taken with utmost seriousness.

This was stated by Maksym Zhorin, deputy commander of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade and lieutenant colonel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

According to the officer of the Third Assault Brigade, the forces accumulated by Russia are insufficient to capture entire regions or regional centers. The enemy’s objective is likely to penetrate deeper into the territory and use this in the negotiation process.

«They will claim they could have taken the entire region but chose not to. I don’t yet see a critical mass of forces and resources. But the issue now is not how many kilometers the Russians will advance — this simply adds two more regions to their agenda, ” Zhorin noted.

He urged for «urgent» preparations in logistics, covering roads with anti-drone nets, and constructing engineering and fortification structures that account for modern warfare involving drones.

«Instead of sitting and waiting until they reach some city, ” the deputy commander of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade concluded.
