As Russia encounters increasing difficulties on the front lines, it is expected to escalate attacks on Ukraine’s civilian population.

This assessment was shared by Lieutenant General Andriy Hnatov, Chief of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, in a comment to LIGA.net.

«The harder it becomes for the enemy to achieve any success on the front, the more they will strike civilian infrastructure, attempting to force the outcomes they desire, ” Hnatov stated.

The general also emphasized that Russian leader Vladimir Putin has not hesitated to employ terror tactics even against his own population. Consequently, there is a high likelihood that attacks on Ukrainian civilians and rear infrastructure will intensify further.

When asked whether Ukraine should brace for a «harsh autumn, ” Hnatov refrained from making predictions but underscored that Russian forces would continue targeting critical infrastructure vital to the country’s functioning.
