The active phase of the Russian-Ukrainian war could end this year. However, Ukraine requires practical steps to ensure security guarantees.
These expectations were shared by First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko during the "Ukrainian Breakfast" event in Davos.
“Businesses expect the active phase of the war to end this year. But, of course, we must negotiate security guarantees and their practical implementation,” she stated.
Svyrydenko emphasized that security guarantees must be a component of any future agreement, adding, “NATO is the best solution here.”
The deputy prime minister also noted that Western sanctions against Russia must remain in place.
“They should be strengthened. Only then can we discuss and negotiate a peace agreement,” Svyrydenko said.
It is worth noting that the World Bank forecasts a slowdown in Ukraine's economic growth to 2.0% in 2025. The projection is based on the assumption that active combat will continue throughout the year.
