We are fighting against a very formidable enemy that destroys cities and kills civilians to advance. The situation on the front lines is very difficult because the Armed Forces of Ukraine lack sufficient weapons.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this during a briefing with representatives of Baltic media.
"They (the Russians) are not afraid to kill civilians, and that makes them a very difficult enemy. Because they set goals for themselves and then try to achieve them by any means. They can destroy everything; it's their tactic, and then they enter. They attack cities to make people flee," the Commander-in-Chief said.
At the same time, he emphasized that last year was unsuccessful for the Russian army, because it was not able to occupy a single city.
"If the Russians did not control the airspace, and we had a sufficient number of air defense systems, we would destroy their aviation. When you destroy them in the sky, you go forward. There are no big steps forward in Ukraine, because they control the sky," - Zelenskyy emphasized.
