"The statement by Yevgeny Prigozhin about withdrawing his mercenaries from Bakhmut after May 25 is driven by fear and understanding of his prospects. However, the Kremlin leadership will not allow him to do this."

Such an opinion was expressed by Colonel Serhiy Cherevaty, Spokesperson for the Eastern grouping of troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

"I believe that Prigozhin desperately wants to leave from there. He wants to preserve the remnants of his personnel and reputation. After all, he understands that a bloody defeat awaits them there," Serhiy Cherevaty is convinced.

According to him, Prigozhin is not a military person but merely an "adventurous businessman," so he realizes that his army is on the verge of collapse.

"He saw what General Syrskyi did in the Kharkiv region, when the regular Russian army simply fled wherever it saw. And he realizes what the commander can organize further for the "Wagnerites". Prigozhin perfectly understands that sooner or later he will simply be smashed to pieces." - the Spokesperson said.

At the same time, Cherevaty assumes that the Russian leadership will eventually make every effort to prevent Prigozhin from withdrawing his mercenaries.
