Will Russia Attack Within the Next 10 Days: Forecast by the Former Chief of the Foreign Intelligence Service

In his interview for FREEDOM, the former Chief of the Foreign Intelligence Service, General of the Army of Ukraine Mykola Malomuzh commented on foreign media reports that Russia is allegedly preparing to launch a large-scale offensive within the next 10 days.
In his opinion, it would take 4 to 6 months for Russia to prepare for a full-scale offensive.

"Everyone is talking about an offensive in just 10 days, on February 24th, etc., but now Russia is setting only local tasks, it cannot launch offensive operations along the frontline of 2,600 kilometers. It would simply impossible, even if it had half a million [soldiers], but it doesn’t. There are less than 300 thousand troops," Malomuzh says.

According to him, Russia has only 30-40 thousand military personnel who will be assigned local tasks in Donbas. According to the ex-intelligence officer, the invaders will be able to form reserves for a second offensive only in early summer.

To do this, they need to gather 250-300 thousand troops and repair equipment. Therefore, Ukraine has at least 2-3 months for preparation, Malomuzh believes. He calls the timely delivery of Western weapons and equipment during this time the key to Ukraine's successful defense.

"I especially emphasize that massive supply of ammunition: missiles, shells, mines, etc. to be destroyed on the approaches is the most effective way to fight the enemy, the reserves, when they are moving on trains, in columns, when they have not yet arrived on the battlefield. These are very powerful blows, pressure, and panic among those on the front lines. This is a prerequisite for their destruction and offensive operations... I will say clearly: March-May is our time," Malomuzh believes.

In his opinion, any delay will play against Ukraine, and the allies understand this. After all, in case of delay, Ukraine will find itself in a situation of a protracted war with heavy casualties.

Instead, the Armed Forces should form forces, conduct training and develop operations that will allow them to move from defense to offense.

"In the east, it may be the Luhansk sector - a strike on Luhansk and attacks from the rear in the Donetsk sector and, of course, the south. This can destroy the front and cause a shaft of their retreat. This is a movement towards Crimea," the former Chief of the Foreign Intelligence Service summarized.
