Catastrophe on frontline? Experts outline Russian offensive scenarios

Russians advance on Ukraine, experts assess the threat

Military experts Oleh Zhdanov and Oleksiy Hetman say there are no catastrophe on the frontline yet, but the situation remains very unstable.

They shared these insights in comments to TSN.ua.

Military expert Oleksiy Hetman says that he does not view the frontline situation as catastrophic.

«Now, regarding the situation on the Pokrovsk axis and whether there is a threat to Dnipropetrovsk region. The Russians keep making incursions there — but only for very short distances, where they are immediately eliminated, and that’s the end of it. I’m not giving my opinion; I’m simply stating facts. The Russians have concentrated their main effort on the Pokrovsk axis,» he said.

Hetman also adds that the invaders’ offensive on the Zaporizhzhia axis began as early as this summer. He believes the occupiers have planned their push all the way through the summer of 2026.

Military expert Oleh Zhdanov says the frontline situation is indeed perilous for Ukraine.

«We’re a long way from catastrophe — I wouldn’t even use that word. It’s critical, yes, but we’ve faced critical moments before. Russia has overwhelming advantages in manpower and in the air. We haven’t reached air parity. They can pound our positions from above and then push us out with sheer numbers, leaving nothing but craters behind, ” he says.
