The aftermath of the attack on Zaporizhzhia

Last night, Zaporizhzhia experienced a massive attack — the enemy launched six "Shahed" drones at the city. One of the drones hit near a high-rise in the Voznesenivskyi district, turning the courtyard into a blaze and the apartments into ruins. Five people were injured in the strikes.

TSN correspondent Darya Nazarova visited the site of the strike and spoke with those who miraculously survived.

Facade in ruins and walls torn out

The strike hit the city center. Glass and balcony frame debris covered the courtyard. The blast wave shattered windows in nine high-rise buildings, and the facade at the epicenter was severely damaged.

Lyudmyla Dvirnyk said: “Tenants called me to say a drone had hit. It struck near the sixth entrance and caused injuries. Thankfully, people had taped their windows. The cleanup crew will come soon.”

Inside, stairs were covered with glass. In some apartments, the blast tore off entrance doors along with concrete.

Serhiy, one of the injured, said: “The doors were torn off, the lock jammed. Now the doors only open like this, and half a wall is gone too.”

“My mother didn’t respond”: The Shishko family rescue

The Shishko family lost part of their home. Tetiana says she was saved because she got into the corridor just before the explosion. Her elderly mother was asleep in the room struck by the drone.

Tetiana Shishko said: “I read on Telegram that "Shaheds" were approaching. I went to the corridor. I heard a loud hum and the drone coming. Then everything — dust and debris — flew into the room. I panicked because my mother didn’t respond. I didn’t know if she was alive. Then she got out, I saw blood, and then we started clearing the rubble.”

The aftermath of the night terror

Five people suffered shrapnel injuries and acute stress reactions and are being treated as outpatients.

One of the six strikes hit an infrastructure facility, causing a fire. Overall, the attacks damaged twelve high-rise buildings and several non-residential structures in Zaporizhzhia.
