Russia is undergoing complete militarization, which is why Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is seeking a new war.
This opinion was expressed in a comment to TSN.ua by military expert Oleh Zhdanov.
Where to look for it — in the West, how to test it — by carrying out such armed provocations as in Poland during the latest massive attack on Ukraine, Zhdanov explains.
«Another nuance of why Russia needs a new war. They studied the impact of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan in 1989 on the collapse of the Soviet Union. At that time, one reinforced army was withdrawn. We kept 50–60 thousand in Afghanistan. And those guys had a very strong influence on public opinion regarding the fact that the war was aggressive. They were not fulfilling any international duty there. They were trying to break Afghanistan and impose Western-style democracy in a Muslim country. And that is why the Kremlin clearly understands that if 700,000 return from Ukraine, and among them 200,000 convicts, even if half survive, what kind of criminal situation will there be in Russia and what public opinion they will form when they are called occupiers here? They understand this, no matter what propaganda says. And they will return and tell what they did in Ukraine, how they killed. And what to do with the Youth Army, which today from the first grade runs obstacle courses with assault rifles? They do it with the single slogan — „to kill khokhols, ” Oleh Zhdanov explained.
According to the expert, this is exactly why it is not in Putin’s interest to end wars, including in Ukraine.
He also says that scenarios of global escalation have long been discussed in Russian military circles:
«In 2021, General Gerasimov in the journal Krasnaya Zvezda — Russia’s leading military publication — wrote a huge analytical article „The Third World War of a New Hybrid Type.“ Everything is described there. There are no specifics about countries or the territories of which countries, but the methodology of conducting it completely coincides with what is happening around our war today.»
