China is taking steps to deepen cooperation with Russia, particularly in the military industry, a trend confirmed by partner intelligence agencies.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made the statement following a briefing by Head of Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service, Oleh Ivashchenko.

«We are observing an increasing de facto loss of sovereignty over parts of Russian territory in favour of China. This primarily concerns the use of resource-rich lands and the sale of scarce resources to China,» Zelenskyy said.

The president stressed that Russia is becoming increasingly dependent on Beijing, both economically and institutionally. He pointed out that China is deepening its engagement with Moscow in strategically sensitive sectors.

«China is moving to intensify its ties with Russia, especially in the defence sector. Partner intelligence confirms similar developments,» the president said.

Zelenskyy ordered Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service to track all aspects of Moscow-Beijing cooperation:

«In all areas affecting Ukraine’s national interests and those of our partners in Europe and the US. Global security cannot be compromised while Russia’s hunger for aggression continues unabated.»

Ivashchenko also reported on Russian political campaigns intended to destabilize Ukraine.

«We will counter and block any entities aiding the enemy,» Zelenskyy emphasized.

The president also noted that the Foreign Intelligence Service is actively working to bring kidnapped Ukrainian children home and facilitate prisoner exchanges, thanking everyone involved in these efforts.
