Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has commented on talks held in Abu Dhabi, where a 20-point peace plan and other key problem issues were discussed.
The president made the comments at a briefing.
«There were a lot of problematic issues, but their number has diminished. Russia has long sought to remove Ukraine from the east of our country. The reason is obvious — it has been their objective, and they want to achieve it. On the battlefield, however, they have not been able to do so yet, ” the president said.
Zelenskyy outlined Ukraine’s position on its territorial integrity: «Our stance on our territory is territorial integrity, which must be respected. I won’t repeat it — everyone knows our position. We are fighting for our country, for what belongs to us. We are not fighting on another country’s territory, which could raise questions about us. These are two fundamentally different positions — Ukraine’s and Russia’s.»
He added that the United States is trying to find a compromise: «We are taking steps by communicating in a trilateral format. These are the first steps toward finding a compromise. But for a compromise to work, all parties must be ready for it — including the American side.»
