Head of Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service Oleh Ivashchenko said this in an interview with Ukrinform.

“Russia has no intention of stopping this war. In their minds, they are rebuilding the Soviet Union through the hands of their army. They are creating new districts and divisions — 13 divisions, to be precise. Yes, they face problems: a shortage of people and equipment. But every day, they recruit 1,000–1,200 new contract soldiers. This is not mobilization for peace but preparation for something bigger,” Ivashchenko noted.

According to him, the war is Russia’s way of sustaining its economy and power, built on fear and the image of an enemy.

“Why? It’s about the economy. Right now, their military-industrial complex is the only sector showing growth. If it stops, the entire Russian economy will crack. And it’s about ideology, rooted in fear and the notion of enemies all around. For the Kremlin, the war is a tool to hold onto power. This is a threat to Ukraine and the entire civilized world,” he said.
