Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov continues to insist that the Kremlin seeks a diplomatic resolution to achieve the goals of its «special military operation.»

He made the remarks in an opinion piece submitted to Politico Europe. The publication chose not to publish the article, though it was later released by Russian media outlets.

Lavrov once again spoke of «peace through diplomacy» and claimed that Russia faces alleged threats along its western borders.

According to him, the Kremlin «prefers to achieve the goals of the special military operation through diplomatic means.» At the same time, he repeated Moscow’s long-standing demands, including what he described as ensuring the rights of compatriots to use the Russian language and practice the Orthodox faith.
