Negotiations in Türkiye: MFA reveals Ukraine's "agenda"
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs outlined President Zelenskyy's plans for today in Türkiye.
MFA spokesperson Heorhiy Tykhyi
Negotiations with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan are currently scheduled in Türkiye. The Ukrainian delegation, including Foreign Minister Sybiha, has arrived for the talks.
MFA spokesperson Heorhiy Tykhyi said this on the air of the telethon.
"Very active diplomacy is underway right now, and you all see these efforts. Yesterday, the Minister (Sybiha — Ed.) was in Antalya, where he managed to hold very important meetings with Secretary General Rutte, the Turkish minister, the Americans, Rubio, and Lindsey Graham. These were meetings where steps could be synchronized and coordinated," Tykhyi said.
He assures that Ukraine is open to negotiations in any format, as President Zelenskyy has repeatedly emphasized.
"Let me remind everyone: the President personally invited Putin, saying he is ready to meet with him in Türkiye. As of now, we see that Putin is avoiding this meeting, hiding, and sending very low-level representatives to these talks," the MFA spokesperson explains.
What’s next
Tykhyi emphasizes that President Zelenskyy will first meet with his Turkish counterpart, Erdoğan. Afterward, "there will be more clarity on the next steps as the process unfolds."
Furthermore, it is important for the world to recognize that Ukraine is acting very constructively in terms of its readiness for negotiations.
"It is very important for us that the world sees this, that the Americans and Europeans see that Ukraine is not an obstacle to peace. The only obstacle to peace is Russia," the MFA spokesperson concluded.
