Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, during his 28 November meeting with Russian president Vladimir Putin in Moscow, complained about the impact of the war in Ukraine on his country. Orban also proposed holding peace talks in Hungary to bring the war to an end.
This became known from the broadcast of the meeting between the Hungarian and Russian leaders.
“Ukraine is Hungary’s neighbor, so our country fully feels the impact of the conflict. We are taking economic losses because economic cooperation is blocked by the fighting. This is true for Europe as a whole and for us as well,” Orban said.
He insisted that “Hungarians are interested in peace” and proposed hosting talks in Hungary to end the war in Ukraine.
“We hope that the recently published peace initiatives will eventually lead to peace. Hungary is ready to provide a platform for these talks and is ready to help bring the process to a successful conclusion,” the prime minister said.
