A delegation of Polish military officials is set to arrive in Ukraine this week to discuss bolstering the security of Ukrainian airspace.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhiy Tykhyi said this at a briefing on Wednesday, September 17.

Plans for cooperation

During the visit, the sides are expected to discuss joint work with other partners to enhance the security of Ukraine’s airspace. The visit is seen as an important step in strengthening cooperation between the countries.

“There will also be discussions on how we can work together with other partners to enhance airspace security. I believe this visit will be an important step forward,” Tykhyi said.

The emphasis on “joint work” with partners signals the intention of both Ukraine and Poland to involve a wider circle of countries in addressing regional security.

Visit amid heightened security concerns

The Polish delegation’s trip comes against a backdrop of growing tensions, as Warsaw steps up preparations for a potential confrontation with Russia. In March, Polish authorities announced plans to expand the country’s armed forces, and Prime Minister Donald Tusk urged every man to be ready for war.

The regional security climate has further deteriorated in recent weeks. Russian drones have entered Polish airspace, prompting the rapid mobilization of territorial defense reservists.

Sources also suggest Poland is considering sending its troops to Ukraine for training missions — a move that could form part of broader military cooperation between the two nations.
