The head of Russia’s Foreign Ministry believes that an agreement on peaceful settlement can only be achieved when Russia’s «legitimate interests» in the security sphere are taken into account.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has stated that the aggressor state is ready to seek a compromise to end the war in Ukraine.

He made these remarks in an interview with Russian propagandists on Channel One.

According to him, a search for «compromise» is possible if Russia’s «legitimate interests» in the «security sphere» are guaranteed.

«Lasting agreements are a compromise. And we are ready to seek one on the condition that our legitimate security interests, the legitimate interests of Russian people in Ukraine, will be ensured just as the legitimate interests of other participants in such an agreement will be ensured, ” the top Russian diplomat said.

Lavrov again referred to the sham referendums in the occupied territories, which, he claimed, «cannot be ignored.»

The Russian foreign minister also added that, in his view, U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration «understands the problems related to NATO.»

Lavrov further alleged that the White House supposedly wants to «remove Ukraine from the agenda» in order to build normal economic relations with Russia.
