Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha condemned the statement by his Slovak counterpart Juraj Blanár, who suggested that the West should "forgive" Russia.

The head of Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry expressed this view on the X platform.

Sybiha emphasized that "Russia's sense of impunity is the root cause of its crimes."

"It is naive to expect a criminal to stop committing crimes if they are forgiven rather than punished. Russia will strike the other cheek as well," the Ukrainian minister stated.

According to Sybiha, "those who have lost no one in this war have no right to make such statements."

Blanár's statement

The head of Slovakia’s Foreign Ministry, Juraj Blanár, stated that resolving the war is impossible without dialogue with Russia and called for finding ways to cooperate with Moscow. He added that Western countries should find a way to work with Russia and "perhaps even forgive everything that has happened."

"Let us return to respecting international law and seek ways to communicate with the Russian Federation," the Slovak Foreign Minister said.
