Ukraine is ready for talks with Russia, but only under one condition—after a full ceasefire.

This was stated by Andriy Yermak, Head of the President’s Office.

He emphasizes that achieving peace does not depend solely on Ukraine. If it did, the war would have ended long ago.

“The reality is that Russia shows no genuine desire to stop its aggression. Over 50 days ago, President Trump proposed a full 30-day ceasefire — we agreed. Russia responded with a three-day "ceasefire for the parade,” Yermak recalled.

According to the Head of the President’s Office, Ukraine is ready for negotiations, but only after a complete ceasefire.

“This is the position of Ukraine, the U.S., and our European friends. We do not trade our independence. Our "red lines" are the Constitution, international law, and the UN Charter. We will never recognize the occupation of our territories. However, we are realists: we understand that some issues will need to be discussed at the negotiating table. We are ready for this — if Russia comes to the table as well,” he said.

In Yermak’s view, Ukraine has proven itself a responsible and constructive partner.

“We signed a historic agreement with the U.S. — this is the foundation for future security through the economy. We are working with all partners and want them to come to Ukraine — to see with their own eyes that we are holding on, that we are strong and motivated. We are grateful for Germany’s years of support and welcome the new Chancellor, Friedrich Merz. He has been with us from the first days of the war. Ukraine continues to fight. Because we have no other country. And we have the strength to win not only the war but also the peace,” Andriy Yermak concluded.
