During the night of May 7, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with four ballistic missiles and 142 drones. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on the consequences of the strikes across various cities and called for increased pressure on Russia.

The Head of State shared this in a statement online.

“Overnight, the Russians launched 4 ballistic missiles and 142 drones, half of which were "Shaheds". Dozens more drones are still in our skies,” the President noted.

Kyiv was hit twice. Initially, the Russians struck the city with ballistic missiles, followed by drones in the morning.

“All services are currently on the ground assisting people. As of now, seven people are known to be injured, including four children. Unfortunately, there are killed — a woman and her son. My condolences to their family and friends,” Zelenskyy’s statement read.

He also reported that since the evening, there had been numerous strikes on Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Kherson, and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Rescuers have been active everywhere.

Following a ballistic missile strike on Velyka Chernechchyna in the Sumy region, the occupiers began using guided aerial bombs to attack the area. This occurred while rescue operations were ongoing.

The President of Ukraine called for intensified pressure on Russia.

“Only a tangible strengthening of pressure on Russia and the reinforcement of sanctions can pave the way for diplomacy. Any measures that deprive the aggressor of resources to wage war must be applied for the sake of lasting peace,” the President’s statement stressed.

He thanked partners who are assisting in this effort and everyone helping Ukraine with air defense systems. The Head of State stressed that Russia must be held accountable for its actions.
