Ukraine has not yet received a response from the U.S. to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s proposal to invite an American delegation to Kyiv for negotiations at the technical group level, the Ukrainian Embassy in the U.S. said in a comment to Suspilne.
The diplomatic mission noted that the American side was still considering the Ukrainian proposal.
«As of today, the U.S. side continues to review our proposal, and we are awaiting a response. Once readiness for the next round of negotiations is signaled, we will immediately commence preparations,» the embassy stated.
The embassy acknowledged Washington’s current focus on the Middle East, yet emphasized that Ukraine expects U.S. attention to pivot back to the Ukrainian issue once the situation stabilizes.
The embassy stressed that Ukraine’s top priority remains ending the war on terms of a just peace with reliable security guarantees.
«Our priority is clear: we want this war ended, and ended justly, with a peace that ensures it never happens again. That requires strong security guarantees. The U.S. side is fully aware of our priorities, just as we know the Russian stance,» the mission noted.
Ukraine also signaled its readiness to sit down at the negotiating table. Furthermore, according to the embassy, Zelenskyy remains open to a trilateral summit at the leadership level.
