Russian troops are trying to widen their foothold along the front line near Hrabovske and Myropilske in the Sumy region. Active attempts to push westward, directly across the border, have been recorded.

Viktor Trehubov, Head of Communications for Ukraine’s Joint Forces grouping, broke down the situation for Suspilne Sumy.

«Relying on captured settlements — there are two they have taken and are trying to secure, Hrabovske and Myropilske — they are now attempting to expand along the border and push deeper. But Ukrainian troops have withdrawn to prepared positions. Creating any kind of „surprise“ there is much harder now. At best, they can try to press forward, but at the moment they lack the forces to do so effectively, ” the spokesperson said.

Russian troops are also making minimal use of heavy equipment. In April alone, within the Joint Forces’ area of responsibility, Ukrainian troops destroyed 19 Russian tanks and 16 armored vehicles.
