Trilateral talks in Abu Dhabi
The first day of a new round of trilateral talks between Ukraine, the US and Russia in Abu Dhabi has concluded. Talks are set to resume late Thursday morning local time.
This was reported by Diana Davityan, spokesperson for the Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov, according to European Pravda.
“The talks are concluded for today,” she said, adding that discussions will continue on Thursday, February 5.
The Ukrainian delegation in Abu Dhabi is represented by NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov, Head of the Presidential Office Kyrylo Budanov and his first deputy Serhiy Kyslytsia, Servant of the People faction leader David Arakhamia, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Andriy Hnatov, and Presidential adviser Oleksandr Bevz.
According to Umerov, the Ukrainian side has scheduled a bilateral meeting with the US delegation, represented by US President’s Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. The meeting is expected to discuss a document on security guarantees and the so-called “prosperity plan.”
Delegation composition during the talks
Umerov said that after the trilateral meeting in Abu Dhabi, negotiations continued in working groups.
The US delegation included Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, as well as Josh Gruenbaum, Daniel Driscoll, and General Alex Grinkevich.
According to Umerov, the Russian side was represented at a senior military level.
“The discussions were substantive and productive, focusing on concrete measures and practical solutions. We are preparing a report for President Volodymyr Zelenskyy,” he said.
