Ukraine will become a member of NATO, but this will not be part of a peace deal.

This was stated by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte during the national telethon on April 15.

Ukraine’s path to NATO is irreversible, and “nothing has changed,” but membership will not be part of a peace deal, he said.

“When we said that Ukraine would one day become a NATO member, we did not promise that it would be part of a peace agreement. But regarding Ukraine’s future NATO membership, the decisions made at the Washington Summit remain unchanged,” Mark Rutte said.

When asked by a journalist whether NATO membership for Ukraine is still on the agenda, the Secretary General replied: “Yes, of course.”
