Zelenskyy accuses Trump's representative of discussing matters "beyond his competence"
Zelenskyy emphasizes that Ukraine will not recognize the occupied territories as Russian, calling it a "red line."
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The recognition of any temporarily occupied territories as Russian is a red line for Ukraine. Such issues, discussed by U.S. President’s Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, are beyond his competence.
This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a joint briefing with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Odesa.
"All territories of our country belong to Ukraine. Only the people of Ukraine can speak about the territories of our state. For us, this is a red line — to recognize any occupied territories not as Ukrainian, but as Russian. Therefore, the respective representatives you (the journalist – Ed.) mentioned (referring to Steve Witkoff – Ed.) are discussing matters outside their competence," the Head of State declared.
