The United States and the European Union have already threatened Russia with powerful sanctions should it refuse to implement a ceasefire in Ukraine.

Russia is losing the opportunity to put an end to the killings and is instead once again demonstrating the Kremlin’s main goal — to continue the war. Vladimir Putin must understand the consequences he will face if he rejects the ceasefire.

This was stated by Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andriy Sybiha.

The Ukrainian minister reports that the Russians are ignoring the proposal for a full and lasting ceasefire starting from May 12 and are continuing active military operations on the front line.

“Moscow is missing yet another opportunity to stop the killings. This once again shows that Russia’s only goal is to continue the war. Ukraine, on the other hand, is making every effort to stop the war and give diplomacy a chance,” said Sybiha.

The Foreign Minister reminds that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy agreed to a personal meeting with Vladimir Putin, but there has been no response from the Kremlin so far. As a result, Sybiha pointed out the consequences of such actions by the Russian dictator.

“We have discussed decisive steps with our allies, including sanctions against the banking sector, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, and Russian energy, which may be implemented alongside new packages of defense aid to Ukraine. Putin must understand the consequences of rejecting peace efforts and continuing the war,” Sybiha emphasizes.
