US deadlines to end Ukraine war? Ukraine Foreign Ministry responds

Ukraine is focusing on results rather than deadlines, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi said, responding to media reports of alleged US-set timelines for peace agreements.

Tykhyi made the remarks in an interview with 24 Kanal.

Regarding pressure and timelines

The spokesperson noted that mentions of deadlines — for spring or summer — usually come from media speculation seeking exact dates. Kyiv’s official stance, however, remains unchanged.

«Ukraine’s position is straightforward — we want the war to end as quickly as possible. This is about results, not deadlines, ” Tykhyi stressed.

Ukraine’s readiness and Russian resistance

The spokesperson highlighted that Ukraine is ready to take concrete steps toward a ceasefire and ending the war, but the main obstacle remains Russia.

«The problem is not Ukraine — the problem is Russia. Therefore, we are talking about applying pressure on Russia, ” he added.

US role and Trump administration measures

The Foreign Ministry thanked the US for its peace initiatives. Tykhyi acknowledged the role of President Trump, the White House, and the State Department, highlighting important actions taken last year:

• new sanctions;

• boosting NATO countries’ defense spending.

At the same time, Tykhyi noted that despite these efforts, the international community is dealing with a «very uncooperative side» that continues terror and aggression.
