The world is now in a state of «diplomatic fog.» And when it is difficult to establish facts, it is hard to make the right decisions.
This was stated by former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba in an exclusive interview with Trukha.
«When statements and comments are pouring in from all sides, trying to follow every piece of news is pointless. It disorients; you need to protect your head from unnecessary clutter, ” Kuleba said.
He stressed that Putin’s political statements are nothing new: «He has always said he is ready to end the war only if the root cause is eliminated — the existence of the Ukrainian state. So until he abandons this goal, the war will continue.»
Kuleba also commented on the Alaska summit and the role of Donald Trump: «Putin needed to stop Trump’s movement along the anti-Putin spiral. He turned Trump back toward the Europeans and said: go quarrel with them, and I am ready to settle everything with you. That was what the summit was about.»
The former minister identified two indicators that would signal a real possibility of a ceasefire: «The first is the number of Russian attacks on the front, the second is Putin’s consent to a meeting with Zelenskyy, Trump and the Europeans.»
He emphasizes that the strategy of «appeasement» may work with some, but not with Putin: «Putin understands the language of force. Therefore, a ceasefire is possible, but an end to the war is not, until he changes his goal. His objective — the existence of Ukraine as a state — has remained unchanged.»
Kuleba added that the actions of Zelenskyy with Trump and the Europeans are correct: «They are building their work in such a way as to make maximum use of diplomatic levers. But it is important not to hope for a quick end to the war».
