The vast majority of so-called “Trumpists” in the U.S. Republican Party oppose any foreign aid, including to Ukraine. However, there are no individuals in Donald Trump’s administration who would “surrender” Ukraine to Putin.

This opinion was expressed by former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin on the YouTube channel LIGAnet.

“I don’t think the Americans will surrender Ukraine to Putin. There are complex internal discussions within the administration. There are people in the administration who understand that Ukraine is an asset,” the Ukrainian diplomat noted.

At the same time, Pavlo Klimkin points out that, unfortunately, among the so-called “Trumpists,” there is a perception that “Ukraine is divided into a true "Ukrainian" Ukraine and some kind of less authentic part that is more Russian.”

As an example, the diplomat cited statements by Donald Trump himself about Crimea, where people speak Russian and allegedly want to live in Russia.

“This sentiment exists in the administration, and it’s quite difficult to change. But, on the other hand, I don’t see anyone in this administration who openly says that Ukraine can be handed over to Russia, even in private discussions,” Klimkin emphasizes.

According to him, Ukraine may continue to receive American weapons, though it will likely have to purchase most of them.
