Despite U.S. President Donald Trump’s ultimatum to dictator Putin to agree to a peace deal within 50 days, hostilities will not cease. This opinion was expressed by Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Denysenko, as reported by Espreso.

«A ceasefire in 50 days will not happen. Putin will keep trying to advance. I hope he won’t succeed much, ” the expert stated.

Denysenko highlighted a key factor: the talks between Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov and the Kim Jong-un regime in Pyongyang.

«We still have one big question: we don’t yet understand what Lavrov did or didn’t agree on in Pyongyang. This is currently the only way for the Russians to secure relatively large reserves without conducting mobilization, ” he noted.

The political scientist suggested that if Lavrov failed to secure new military involvement from North Korea in Pyongyang, Russia’s chances of significant battlefield advances by year’s end are slim.

At the same time, two major negotiation processes are beginning globally — between the U.S. and China, and between the European Union and China, the expert said. He identified China as the only country with real influence over Russia.

«If the Europeans, and especially the U.S., manage to make progress in these talks, I believe one of their key points could be the real end to the war in Ukraine and China’s pressure on Russia, ” Denysenko concluded.
