Zelenskyy confirms preparation for new talks with Russia

On Saturday, June 14, Zelenskyy held a conversation with Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, who led the Ukrainian delegation at the talks with Russia in Istanbul.

The Ukrainian leader announced this in his evening address.

«We thoroughly discussed the possibility of further diplomatic steps and what exactly needs to be ensured for the negotiation process,» he said.

Additionally, during the conversation with the Defense Minister, the President set specific tasks regarding prisoner exchanges. «We are working to bring back all our people who are currently in Russian captivity. We plan for the exchanges to continue next week, at least that is the agreement,» he said.

Zelenskyy expressed hope that the Russian side would fulfill its part of these humanitarian obligations «as agreed».
