He thanked the U.S. President for all efforts aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace.
Zelenskyy informed Trump about increased Russian strikes
“It’s truly necessary to stop the killings as soon as possible — we fully support this. There could have been no war for many months already, if the Russians weren’t prolonging it,” Zelenskyy said.
The President of Ukraine told Trump that Russian forces have intensified the brutality of their attacks. He spoke about strikes on Kyiv and other cities.
Sanctions
The parties also discussed sanctions against Russia.
“Their economy continues to decline, and that’s exactly why Moscow is so concerned about this prospect and President Trump’s determination. This could change a lot,” Zelenskyy said.
Europe paying the U.S. for weapons for Ukraine
Zelenskyy and Trump also discussed European decisions to purchase American weapons for Ukraine.
The President of Ukraine reminded that the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark have pledged over $1 billion for U.S.-made weapons to be delivered to Ukraine. He assured that cooperation with NATO countries would continue.
“We also talked about our bilateral defense cooperation with the U.S. The drone agreement draft has already been prepared by the Ukrainian side — we are ready to discuss it in detail and finalize it. It could become one of the strongest agreements,” Zelenskyy concluded.
