Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia fears Ukraine’s armed forces receiving U.S. Tomahawk missiles, a concern that could nudge the Kremlin toward peace talks.

The Ukrainian leader addressed this in his address on Sunday, October 12.

Zelenskyy recalled that he held a second phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump in the past two days.

«We see and hear that Russia fears the Americans might transfer Tomahawks to us. This is a signal that precisely such pressure could work for the sake of peace,» he said.

According to the Ukrainian President, the call with the White House leader resulted in an agreement on further cooperation.

«We agreed with President Trump that our teams and militaries will handle everything we discussed. This includes energy and gas matters. I am grateful. We count on results,» he added.
