President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed peace negotiations with a US delegation at the Munich Security Conference. Notably, he met separately with Marco Rubio and separately with Kushner and Witkoff.

The head of state reported this on his social media.

Zelenskyy first held talks with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. He was accompanied by National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, and Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Pavlo Palisa.

He told the US Secretary of State about the frontline situation, Russian strikes and the impact of attacks on the energy system. The sides discussed ways to help Ukraine protect lives during winter conditions.

“We discussed the diplomatic process and trilateral meetings in detail. It is important that the planned Geneva talks deliver results, and I thank the United States for its constructive approach. We also addressed the sequence of steps. Progress on security guarantees and economic recovery is essential,” the president said.

Zelenskyy later met US presidential envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner.

The conversation was held ahead of the planned Ukraine-US-Russia trilateral meetings in Geneva, where Witkoff and Kushner represent Washington.

Zelenskyy said the sides discussed “certain developments following meetings in Abu Dhabi”.

“Not everything can be voiced over the phone, and our negotiating team will present Ukraine’s position next week. I also spoke about our meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. We highly appreciate that America maintains a constructive stance and remains ready to help protect lives. I thank President Trump, his team and the American people for their support,” Zelenskyy said.
