President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is ready for negotiations and peace, but Russia currently demonstrates no desire to end the war.

He made these remarks during a meeting with journalists on May 27.

“We are asking: let’s sit down at the negotiating table. Let’s move this war toward peace. Let’s stop. But any war must stop due to something — due to political will, due to any kind of will. The will to end the war,” he said.

The Head of State emphasized that the first step must be a ceasefire, but Russia does not accept this.

“And if Russia does not accept a ceasefire, then they truly do not want it at this point. Because there is not enough pressure,” Zelenskyy added.

He warned that the absence of international pressure only fuels the aggressor’s ambitions.

“If tomorrow everyone in Europe, Latin America, Colombia, does not impose sanctions, calls it just a bilateral conflict, and does not help Ukraine politically or economically, or apply pressure — they will never stop,” the President noted.

According to Zelenskyy, Russia has not abandoned its goal of occupying Ukrainian territories.
