President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy criticized recent “kind” statements by the self-declared Belarusian president toward Ukrainians, saying Lukashenko is trying to “talk over the memory” of the Ukrainian people.

The President made the remarks during a meeting with journalists.

Zelenskyy commented on Lukashenko’s attempts to present himself as “generous,” including a recent invitation for Ukrainians to live in Belarus.

“Lately, Lukashenko has become "very talkative" in the media. He shows how kind he is to our people,” Zelenskyy said.

The Ukrainian President stressed that Ukrainians remember Belarus’s role in the war.

“We don’t need his kindness — missiles at 4 a.m. are enough,” Zelenskyy said sharply.

He stressed that Lukashenko will not succeed in erasing the memory of Ukrainians and will be held accountable for his alliance with Russia. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, Belarusian territory was used by Russian forces as a launchpad for attacks on northern Ukraine and for ongoing missile strikes on Ukrainian cities.
