Zelenskyy-Putin meeting could trigger massive Russian info attack, political analyst warns

An attempt to bring Putin to the negotiating table will unleash a powerful Russian disinformation campaign, says political analyst Magda.

A potential face-to-face meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin will mark the beginning of a large-scale Russian disinformation campaign, which Kyiv must prepare for in advance.

Yevhen Magda, a political analyst and Director of the Institute of World Policy, stated this on Kyiv24 TV.

Post-meeting expectations

According to the expert, Russia will launch an information warfare campaign the moment the meeting begins. Ukraine and its partners should not expect honest diplomacy from the Russian Federation.

"If we suddenly reach the point of a meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin, we must be prepared for a very powerful information attack—a Russian disinformation attack—to begin as soon as the doors close behind them. For me personally, this is an axiom. And we must be ready for it," Magda noted.

The political analyst points out that Europe and U.S. President Donald Trump are currently actively calling for compromises and want to bring Russia back to negotiations. However, convincing the Kremlin will fail because Putin disregards the massive losses of his army and perceives reality differently.

"The issue is that Putin does not live in a rational world. You see? He lives in an irrational world. And for him, the numbers of Russian casualties mean nothing. He keeps saying that "we continue to advance" in all directions," Yevhen Magda remarked.

He concluded that under these circumstances, international diplomacy should avoid creating any illusion of Moscow’s readiness for genuine peace, focusing instead solely on tightening Western sanctions and ramping up military pressure on Russia.
