Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has no desire to end the war he started in Ukraine. For this reason, he rejects various steps toward peace, including proposals from U.S. President Donald Trump. The same cannot be said about Ukraine.
This was stated by Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with the American channel TBN, as reported by Ukrinform.
“I don’t want to give Putin even a single percent of an excuse to say that peace is impossible because of Ukraine,” the Head of State said.
He stressed that Kyiv has supported all of Trump’s ideas — negotiations in Istanbul, demands for a ceasefire and the conclusion of a peace agreement, as well as holding trilateral or bilateral talks. However, Putin rejects all these steps.
“Putin is trying to buy a pause in sanctions policy... He tries to manipulate, to gain time, using various reasons why the United States should wait a bit and not exert such pressure,” Zelenskyy explained, calling the Kremlin leader a “potential liar.”
According to him, for Russia, the U.S. is “an enemy in any case.” Moscow, the president emphasized, “respects the strength possessed by the States but not its values” and is very afraid of Washington.
