Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy provided details of the Russian attack on the night of August 20 and its consequences. The Head of State emphasized the need for pressure on Moscow.
Zelenskyy shared this in a post online.
The President reported that the drone attack on Okhtyrka in the Sumy region injured 14 people. A family with wounded children aged five months, four years, and six years sought medical assistance following the strikes.
Meanwhile, in Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region, a guided aerial bomb damaged five apartment buildings. At least three people remain trapped under the rubble, and a rescue operation is ongoing.
Zelenskyy also noted that the Russians carried out a treacherous strike on a gas distribution station in the Odesa region. The enemy also shelled the Chernihiv, Kharkiv, and Poltava regions. In total, Russia launched over 60 drones and a ballistic missile at Ukraine.
"All these are demonstrative strikes that only confirm the need for pressure on Moscow, the need for new sanctions and tariffs until diplomacy can fully take effect," the Ukrainian President stressed.
He expressed gratitude to all partners helping to stop the war.
"Together with the United States, Europe, and everyone who wants peace, we work every day to ensure security. We need strong security guarantees to ensure a truly reliable and lasting peace," Zelenskyy concluded.
