Zelenskyy confirms that national security advisers from European states and Ukraine, at a meeting in London, conveyed their joint proposal to the U.S. side for future talks between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian president Vladimir Putin.
He said in his evening address on Saturday, Aug. 9, that the meeting included representatives from Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Finland and Poland, and that the U.S. delegation was led by Vice President J.D. Vance.
«The meeting was constructive. All our messages were conveyed. Our arguments are being heard. Risks are being considered. The path to peace for Ukraine must be defined together and only together with Ukraine — this is fundamental. It is important that joint approaches and a shared vision work toward genuine peace. A consolidated position. Ceasefire. End of occupation. End of war, ” Zelenskyy said.
In his address, the President also said none of Ukraine’s partners doubt «America’s ability to make it so there is no war.»
«The President of the United States has the levers, has the resolve. Ukraine has supported all of President Trump’s proposals since February, ” he said.
Zelenskyy added that contacts with the U.S. side continue almost around the clock at various levels.
«We are not doing this publicly, ” he said.
