Zelenskyy says what the Ukrainian military needs most
The President emphasizes that Ukraine’s ability to provide a technological response to Russia and bring victory closer depends on the availability of funds.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the primary need of the Ukrainian army today is not just weapons but stable and sufficient funding.
He made these remarks on May 27 during a meeting with journalists.
“How can the West help Ukraine? We provide what we can. And we want to provide more. But we don’t have more. Do we need it? I think we need support, financial support,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
In the President’s view, the key issue is not technical limitations or the type of weaponry but rather the amount of funding: “This is not about technology or restrictions on long-range weapons. It’s about financing.”
The President noted that Ukraine spends more in a single month on its own defense production than it receives in annual direct subsidies. He proposed an alternative — using frozen Russian assets: “This isn’t about taxes. What are taxes? Three billion a year. But there are Russian assets from a country that brought war.”
According to him, having sufficient funds would allow Ukraine not only to strengthen its defense but also to develop a technological response to Russia’s missile threats: “We can surprise Russia if we have the funds. All their missiles — we will find an answer.”
Zelenskyy also stressed the importance of reducing Russia’s energy revenues: “If Putin has no money, he won’t produce such a volume of weapons.”
